DescriptionUse a bunch of junk to build a way to do some task.
BasicsThis thought is a new way to do an old thing, I hope that still counts. The group is split to form two or three teams. The teams then build a thing to do a task. The task should not be hard, like crack an egg or shine a shoe or clean a dish. It should be a task which has use and could be done with ease by hand. The goal of the game is to build a thing to do the task. The thing which is built must be way too hard for the task. The team whose thing has the most parts used in the most new ways wins. The goal is to take the task which would not be hard and make it look hard.To play this game, those who come to camp must bring things. Strange things with no use at camp. Some things like sticks and string would be fine, but then we'd have springs and gears and wheels and clips and nails and screws and glue and a hinge and...Teams would take turns and pick out things from the big pile one or two at a time. A team would score 5 points for each part of their thing which moved or was part of the thing. They would lose 20 for things which they took and did not use (this would help make sure teams took parts they had a use for and used them, not just to take them so their foes could not). I think there would be more points if the thing did what is was tasked to do. We could give five score points if it worked and eight score less ten if it worked well. There could be more points if it worked twice or three times in a row with just some time to "cock" the thing.
Why is this Fun?Building things and being creative are usually fun.
